Thread Colorfast
No manufacturer guarantees their threads to be 100% colorfast. Strict government regulations have restricted the use of many mordant (color fixing) ingredients from chemical dyes. As a result, consumers must take special precautions with any colored fabric or thread.
If you think your piece will require washing or wet blocking when completed, it is advisable to test all threads before stitching.
· Submerge the thread thoroughly in tepid water. Place wet thread on a white paper towel.
· If the thread color bleeds, continue to flush it thoroughly until the water runs clear.
· Allow the thread to dry completely before stitching.
· Never expose the thread (washed or unwashed) to hot water or a steam iron. The heat can reactivate the dyes and cause bleeding.
