Tips and TricksThe chainette structure of this fiber makes it challenging to work with as it is prone to unravel. Use a small amount of Fray Check to reduce the unraveling. Allow the Fray Check to dry before stitching.

Use shorter lengths of thread as you work, no longer than 15”.  Allow your needle to hang every 3-5 stitches as this will allow the thread to naturally untwist as you are stitching.  Work slowly, in this way you will avoid knotting and twisting of the fiber.

Another suggestion is to use a needle with a larger diameter (#22) as this will create a bigger hole to pass the fiber through.  Your stitching motion should be straight up and down (stabbing method) to minimize dragging the thread on the canvas.

Be careful with the tail of the thread as you bury it in your work as you may pull strands of the thread back to the front and your stitches will be fuzzy.

Recommended Use:

18 mesh use multiple strands or blend with other fibers.  Single strand will showcase the painted canvas colors and add sparkle to your work.  When used alone, it has a transparent look to it, making it perfect for lighted windows and doors, for stars, for snowflakes, for anywhere you want a light sparkly cover in your stitching.

13 mesh not recommended
